Clergy in Appointments;
Welcome to the Marathon Way Station!
It has been a long, hard season of ministry, and as a recent article coined, the “second marathon” is about to begin. You have done such a great job running the race. You have stayed steady. You have been grace under pressure. You have led your congregations to innovate and adapt. You have served your community, worked for justice, and committed to do your part in building beloved community. Thank you. And we hear you. It has been exhausting.
So we are bringing a Marathon Way Station to you! We will have 13 pit stops all over the state of Minnesota in October and early November. Your district superintendent and I want to host you. To thank you. To offer you some good food, and a place to gather with colleagues where you can swap stories and encourage each other for the next leg of the journey.
That is our Plan A. To gather for a meal, to sit with folks who have also been running the race, to catch our breath, and to receive some inspiration for how we can move forward with creativity and renewed focus. And like every good marathon, there will be some swag to take home.
Yes, we know we are currently in a COVID surge. We don’t know what October will look like right now. We are learning how to live with COVID because it looks like it will be here for a long time. So we plan, and we hope we can gather because we need to be with one another! We will follow all current COVID protocols. And if that means not being in-person, then Plan B is five district gatherings via Zoom. Not quite the same, but we will make do.
We would love to see your face. Hear your stories. Offer you a bit of respite and refreshment. Take a look at the dates and locations, and then let us know if you can make it so we have plenty of food on hand. Please RSVP.
Blessings as you begin your fall season in these continuing uncertain times.

Locations and Dates
In-Person Participation, 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. (Plan A)
We will begin at 10:30 a.m. and end by 12:30 p.m. Because we are in the Yellow Phase of our Re-Gathering Plan and many of our churches do not allow eating indoors, there will be no food or drinks served during the meeting time. You are welcome to arrive to 10 a.m., and weather permitting, we will have coffee outside as we gather. Rather than eating together indoors, box lunches will be available for you at 12:30 as we end. Again, if the weather permits, we encourage you to bring a lawn chair and find a spot outdoors to enjoy your lunch with friends. We will be masked while we are indoors, and we trust you will be vaccinated and healthy if attending in-person.
